We are delighted to have worked with the estate of Breon O’Casey, son of the Irish playwright Sean O’Casey, and Pangolin London to bring two of his works home to Dublin in the form of large murals overlooking Sean O’Casey Park.
Breon O’Casey became a significant member of the St. Ives school whose leading figures included Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Bernard Leach. Having studied in London, he began his working career as a studio assistant in St Ives, initially to Denis Mitchell and later to Dame Barbara Hepworth, whilst establishing himself as a painter, jeweller, weaver, and later, as a sculptor. O’Casey’s work is characterised by simple forms and lines that relate a very personal set of imagery. Birds, animals and human figures are pared down to their very essence and combined with a joyful approach to colour.
We used specialist mural painters to reproduce the works as scale. We hope you can come to see the end result in situ.
